Natalie Mash, who has served on the Greeley-Evans District 6 Board of Education since 2018, was unanimously elected as President of the Board at a meeting Monday, March 24. She replaces former Board President Michael Mathews, who stepped down from the office in order to begin his transition off the Board in 2025, when he will be term limited and not eligible for re-election.

Mash has previously served as Vice President of the Board of Education. She was appointed to the Board in 2018, elected to the Board in 2019 and re-elected in 2023. Her term expires in 2027.

Kyle Bentley, who was elected to the Board of Education in 2021, was unanimously elected to replace Mash as the Vice President of the Board. Both Mash and Bentley were elected by acclamation, as there were no other nominees for the positions.

Mathews has served as Board President for more than six years. He will continue to serve on the Board through the November 2025 election.

Mathews said he decided to resign from the President position to be able to support the new president while he is still serving on the Board.

“I have had the privilege of doing this for six and a half years,” Mathews said. “I would just like the chance to be supportive, in my last few months, of someone else. It has been a great honor and a great joy for me.”

“Michael has been in a position that epitomizes what extra duties are,” Bentley said. “Michael is small in stature only. He is a giant in this community and we are lucky to have him. We will never fill his shoes.”

Mash will serve as President of the Board until the election in November, when the Board will again have to vote on officers. Four seats will be up for election on the District 6 Board of Education in November.
