Senior Class Expectations
In order to ensure that the graduation ceremony is the meaningful event that parents, faculty, and the graduation class expect and deserve, the following is outlined for each student in the graduating class:
-
Participation in the graduation ceremony is voluntary and is a privilege that may be revoked due to behavior and/or attendance.
-
Failure to maintain satisfactory attendance during the Senior year can result in exclusion from the graduation ceremony and other senior activities.
-
A serious violation of school rules at any time prior to the graduation ceremony or multiple suspensions during the Senior year can result in exclusion from the graduation ceremony and other senior activities.
-
Participation in an organized “ditch day” can result in exclusion from the graduation ceremony and other senior activities. Seniors will have a day in April designated as a day of service where they will be asked to volunteer in the community on various service projects and will have a Senior celebration that follows during school hours that is organized by Senior Class Officers.
-
Students who are involved in any “Senior Prank” that includes vandalism or causes any damage to school or personal property will result in exclusion from the graduation ceremony and other senior activities.
-
Graduation caps and gowns will not be issued if the student owes any fees or fines. Failure to work with the finance office during Senior Checkout can result in exclusion from the graduation ceremony and other senior activities.
-
The GWHS Graduation Committee selects the cap and gown to be worn by each graduate. In keeping with GWHS Tradition, students will not alter or decorate the cap or gown in any manner for the graduation ceremony.
-
Students may wear honor cords and stoles that have been earned from GWHS Approved organizations. Flower Leis and other accessories may not be worn during the graduation ceremony without prior approval from the GWHS Graduation Committee.
