Cell Phone & Device Policies
Greeley West is committed to a distraction free learning environment for all students and we ask that students are not on cell phones in class without the permission from the teacher.
If a student is found to have used a cellular telephone or other electronic device without authorization, the phone or device may be confiscated by the staff member and given to an administrator. The parent/guardian will be called by the student and the device will be returned, by an administrator, to the parent/guardian after the end of the school day or at a mutually agreed time.
Failure to relinquish the cell phone or electronic device to a requesting staff member will result in a one day School Suspension.
Courtesy phones are located in the Main Office and Counseling Office. Telephone messages taken for students from parents or other authorized family members will be taken to classes or announced during passing periods as allowed. Students will not be pulled from class unless it is an emergency. Parents/guardians who need to reach their student for an emergency MUST CALL THE OFFICE at 348-5400 and we will send a pass for the student.
When a device is in use in the classroom, students WILL NOT:
- Answer an incoming text message or phone call without permission from the teacher.
- Access or use any application (app) on their device unless expressly instructed to by the instructor
- Take any picture or video that the instructor has not expressly asked you to take
- Upload any picture or video taken in any class to any social media site or website
- SMS (text) message or email any picture or video taken in class to any person, including themselves
- Access any type of mobile web browsing for any reason unless directed by the instructor
- Take any picture, video or text any class assignments or assessments without permission
